Joni Righthand is a very hard working manager who also has FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME, AUTISM and ADHD.
She decided she wanted to be a cartoonist while in Grade nine. She came up with the idea of a comic strip starring punctuation marks inspired by her teacher who was an English fanatic. However due to fear of ridicule from her more brighter peers, she did nothing with it until she moved into the group home; and showed some comics strips she had drawn, to some people at her volunteer job at church. They said they were really good.
She discovered self-publishing when her nephew helped her create her first comic book that she could sell.
After buying a laptop and tablet with a pen she was able to put together her next book by herself and went on to create her business originally called Punctuation Association which is now a thriving business.
In 2016 she won an award for entrepreneur of the year at an event showing what disabled people can do in their community.
She now has a job at a cafe called Euphoria which is located in Varsity.
Joni loves every aspect of her business and looks forward every day to running it through her day program at CASS. However, her most favourite days are the ones in which she works on the actual strip. Joni has published five books and is currently working on her sixth.
