Collaboration & Promotion Opportunity: Through the Looking Glass
River Cha has been a comics fan since she was a kid – and now that she is at SAIT, she wants to focus on local illustrators for an upcoming project. This is a great opportunity to expose your work to new networks.
The project is for a journalism class that River hopes to make into a portfolio project with momentum. Read her description below – and if you’re interested in participating, please reach out to her!
Through the Looking Glass?
What would your characters want to tell you? What do you want to do with yourself if another you exist in real world? This project is to capture a moment of breaking the Fourth Wall and to create a small illusion in our real world. Draw yourself or one of the favorite characters you created on paper, and interact with them through the dimension. You could have a decent conversation, shake hands, high-five, encourage each other, or even have a fight if you like! It would be a cool way to boost your imagination and think about yourself and your artworks. Also, It doesn’t have to be a sophisticated, perfect drawing – simple doodles could work!

Why is Panel One supporting this project?
At Panel One, we are all about finding opportunities to showcase our members. We also see a large importance in the educational pathways that many people take to express their creativity. That is why Panel One sees River’s project as a great opportunity for our members and herself. The idea is that her networks get exposure to Calgary’s talented independent comic creators.
